Family Service Shabbat
On the third Friday night on the month, a wonderful potluck style dinner, followed by a family Kabbalat Shabbat service and a special dessert afterwards.
Temple David Choir
Do you enjoy singing? Why not join our choir? You do not need to be able to read music; we have rehearsal tracks. Our choir contributes to High Holy Day (HHD) and B’nei Mitzvah services and special occasions. We rehearse once a week for 10 weeks before the HHDs and once or twice before each B’nei MItzvah service. If you would like to hear more, please contact our Choir Director, Gina Davidson: gdavidson@templedavid.org.au
Purim Spiel
The Temple David Theatre Department co-ordinates an annual spiel and fancy hat/dress parade. If you enjoy writing or acting, ask to become involved! If not, just come and enjoy the performance.
Netzer
Netzer Australia is a Progressive, Zionist Youth Movement, which aims to inspire and educate the youth of our community. Netzer run Perth Sleepover weekends at Temple David. This is always a fun and educational weekend.
Book Club
Temple David’s Book Group is quite informal, people are welcome to come for one book or for many. We read four books a year – looking for works, both fiction and non-fiction, that may not be well known but are well worth delving into – all with some connection to Judaism, of course.
The Shmooz Club
Once a month senior members of the congregation are invited to join us for lunch and Yiddishkeit fun. Lunch is provided.
Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day was born out of the belief that we can all make a positive difference to our world by taking action – together. On a single day, Mitzvah Day, the Jewish community together with other communities and individuals wanting to improve the world in some small way, take part in a range of activities simply to help others.
- Supplying and cooking breakfast at Ronald McDonald House, Nedlands for the families of children with cancer.
- Wanslea is a not for profit organisation that supports families, children and young people. We aspire to create a better world in which children and young people are empowered and inspired to live their best lives. Our Foster Care and Grandcare teams would be so grateful to receive donations of toys, kids clothing (from babies - up the age of 17), as well as toiletries such as body wash, deodorants, shampoo and similar self-care products. Please note that we can only accept unused, new products.
For donations of cash or products please contact the Coordinator Hilary Silbert 0409375148 hilarysilbert@icloud.com.
Temple David recognises Mitzvah Day and plays a strong part. Did you know that Mitzvah Day International was launched in the UK in 2008? It is dedicated to doing good things for other people in the belief that we can all make a positive difference to our world by taking action together? On this day Temple David’s community, together with other communities and individuals wanting to improve the world in some small way, will take part in a range of activities simply to help others. The underlying message is to promote social justice, inclusivity and compassion. Our contribution to Mitzvah Day Australia is by promoting social action by Temple members and friends through facilitating meaningful volunteer projects and encouraging acts of kindness. By working together for the common good we build stronger communities making them better places to live. Mitzvah Day is based on the Jewish values of:
- Tzedek – Righteousness
- Gemilut Chassadim – Acts of loving kindness
- Tikkun Olam – Repairing the world
It is a way for us all to make our mark, regardless of affiliation or age.To learn more about this wonderful initiative please see the Mitzvah Day Australia website.
Mitzvah Day 2025 is on Sunday 23 November 2025
